Kathryn Satoh began her violin education in the Chicago area at the age of five under Ardis Simonson. Her studies continued under Edward Kreitman and Thomas Wermuth at the Western Springs School of Talent Education where she toured internationally with the Chicago Consort violin performance group. Kathryn also studied the Havas style under Cornelius Chiu of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She has participated in various workshops and summer institutes including Ithaca College Suzuki Institute and Indiana University Summer String Academy where she was fortunate to work with Rolland Vamos, John Kendall, Fredell Lack, and members of the Pacifica Quartet. She was the associate concertmaster for two years of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Randall Swiggum and was accepted to the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra at the age of fourteen. Her teaching career began before high school, and she held a private studio for six years before relocating to Colorado. She teaches repertoire from the Suzuki Method as well as various supplementary materials. Her students have successfully participated in local solo and ensemble evaluations as well as national summer institutes. She is presently pursuing a Bachelor of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder under Lina Bahn and Patrick Mason.
