Soprano and San Diego native Katie Fillius holds a M.M in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a B.A. in Vocal Performance from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. She was featured as a soloist with the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra at the Nobel Conference in 2008 and in the 2006 Finale Concert as a winner of the orchestra's aria competition. Katie has also been featured as a soprano soloist with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra in 2009 and with the Colorado MahlerFest in 2008. She recently appeared as Teresita in West Side Story and in the chorus of Orfeo ed Euridice and La Boheme at the University of Colorado, and has also studied and performed at the Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria. In addition to her vocal studies, Katie has extensive training in piano performance and pedagogy, accompanying, dance, and musical theater. She has been the Musical Director for CenterStage Theatre Company's 2009 and 2010 summer seasons, and is a member and section leader of the Boulder Camerata. Katie has a passion for helping others find their individual styles of artistic expression and cherishes the opportunity to do so through teaching private voice and piano lessons.
