Acclaimed for her luscious tone quality, flutist Kristen Beeman enjoys a career as a vibrant orchestral musician, educator, and freelance musician. She recently received her master’s degree in flute performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied under the tutelage of Christina Jennings. Mrs. Beeman also holds a bachelor’s degree in flute performance from Louisiana State University where she studied with Dr. Katherine Kemler and graduated Suma Cum Laude. She began her studies in North Carolina with National Flute Association founder Mark Thomas. Other notable teachers include Brook Ferguson, Dr. Bradley Garner, Jill Felber, and Gloria Jee Eun Park.
Mrs. Beeman's performances have been heard all over the country. While attending LSU, Kristen was one of the premier new music performers. She frequently performed recitals of new compositions in the area as well as having had recitals aired on WRKF, the classical music station in Baton Rouge. Mrs. Beeman frequently performs with the Fort Collins Symphony as well as the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Choral and was recently named a semi-finalist for the New World Symphony. Competitions which Kristen has won include the Louisiana Flute Association Young Artist Competition, alternate winner for the MTNA Young Artist Competition in Louisiana, the Raleigh Area Flute Association Young Artist Competition, and was the featured concerto winner with the Charlotte Youth Wind Ensemble.
