Instructor - Jenny Shea

Jenny Shea is a Colorado native and recently received her MM in Music Education from the University of Colorado Boulder where she studied under Lina Bahn and Charles Wetherbee. She received her BM in Violin Performance, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of Miami. There she studied under Glenn Basham and Scott Flavin.

Jenny Shea has taught violin and viola privately for five years, and has worked as a student teacher and classroom assistant in all levels of school in both Boulder Valley and Jefferson County. She was a conductor for the CU’s Middle School String Ensemble and a quartet coach for the CU High School Summer Music Academy. She has performed inn orchestras across the country, including the Cheyenne Symphony, Steamboat Symphony, Key West Pops Orchestra, and Opera Naples. In 2013, she had the honor of performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Rocky Ridge Orchestra. Ms Shea is interested in exploring methods for developing positive practice habits in young students and in creating a music program that is relevant and applicable to a diverse student population. Shea comes from a family of teachers and is proud to continue the tradition. Shea currently resides in Boulder, Colorado and thoroughly enjoys the beautiful weather and close proximity to the mountains. She has been a member of the University of Colorado Triathlon Team for three years and loves to run, bike, and swim as much as she can. She spends her free time reading, hiking, and baking cakes.
