Elizabeth Vancura is the current Assistant Director of the Flatiron Youth Chorale. She is a recent graduate of the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree emphasizing elementary general and secondary choral music. During her college career Elizabeth was a voice student of Robert Glaubitz and Julie Simson. She was also a regular chorus member of the CU Opera and sang with the University Choir, CU’s top undergraduate choir, under the direction of both Dr. Larry Kaptein and Dr. Jeffrey Gemmell. In 2010, Elizabeth received an Undergraduate Development Award from the College of Music to study Afro-Caribbean drumming and work with students in the public schools of Port Antonio, Jamaica as part of the Jamaica Field Service Project. Elizabeth is also the current Children’s and Youth Music Director at First United Methodist Church in Lafayette, CO. In August 2011, Elizabeth will start as the Music Teacher for Carbon Valley Academy where she will direct their band, choir, and teach general music to students in kindergarten through 8th grade.
