Instructor - Elizabeth Bell

Praised for her "delightful" (The Boston Globe) and "delicately compassionate" (Times Herald Record) singing, soprano Elizabeth Bell is gaining recognition as a dynamic performer in operatic, musical theater, oratorio, and recital venues. In her Carnegie Hall debut, she created the title role of Lucy by Tom Cipullo, and her performance was acclaimed as "excellent" (The Big City). Other roles include Flora (The Turn of the Screw) and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel). As a passionate recitalist, her comic portrayals of Art Songs including those by Hugo Wolf, Tom Cipullo, and Richard Hundley have garnered laugh-out-loud responses.

Dr. Bell holds a DMA from The City University of New York Graduate Center and a MM from New England Conservatory. Published in 2011, her dissertation focuses on the Art Songs of living American composer Tom Cipullo. She has been teaching voice since 2002, and was a teaching assistant at New England Conservatory in both the music history and voice departments. Elizabeth grew up in a wonderful artistic community in California where she played clarinet, piano, sang with award-winning choruses and chamber ensembles, participated in musical theater productions, taught dance, and was apprenticed to a professional modern dance company. As a voice teacher, she strives to pass on her great love of music to her students, as well as guide them through their vocal development with enthusiasm and encouragement. Elizabeth is a member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and currently serves as the 2nd Vice President/Auditions Chair of the Colorado-Wyoming District.

Since moving to Colorado, Elizabeth has appeared in both musical theater and operatic productions. As a graduate student, she was a first place winner of the Colorado-Wyoming district NATS music theater division auditions and a two-time honorable mention recipient in the classical division. Upcoming engagements include Jessie in Cabaret Otaku's production of Kurt Weill's Mahagonny Songspiel.
