Soprano Jennifer Burks has been performing in the Boulder area since 2015
and has been a part of the Boulder Symphony Chorus, Cantabile Singers, and the Colorado Masterworks Chorale and has been a guest performer in churches in the area. She has competed in the Met National Council auditions in Denver, CO as well as the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition, where she was a finalist and was awarded Honorable Mention. She recently debuted her first role in opera as First Spirit in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with the Arapahoe Philharmonic. Jennifer has also been a part of the Boulder Symphony Chorus and has performed 4 operas with them.
Jennifer spent her formative years in Texas and moved to Arkansas in 2011
to study Vocal Performance at the University of Arkansas. There she studied
privately with Elaine Cencel and Dr. Moon Sook Park, and sung under the
direction of Dr. Stephen Caldwell in Schola Cantorum. As a part of that ensemble, Jennifer had the privilege of singing as a soloist in concerts throughout her time there. Other solo opportunities included recitals, fundraising concerts, and masterclasses with Donald Sulzen and Ollie Watts Davis.
After graduating, she and her husband moved to Colorado where he is
pursuing a PhD. When not singing, Jennifer works part-time at Front Range
Hippotherapy in Longmont, CO as a Horse Handler and at Flatirons Terrace in Boulder. You will often find her giving a little TLC to old furniture, in a coffee shop, or exploring Boulder with her husband. Jennifer is passionate about developing healthy technique and stage presence. She hopes to inspire others to sing as beautifully and healthily as possible!
