Eurhythmics Exploratory

Strengthen your musicianship, and deepen and improve your musical ears rhythmically and melodically through Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Eurhythmics (translated literally meaning "good rhythm") was developed by Swiss composer, educator, pianist and head of the Geneva Conservatory, Emile-Jaques Dalcroze in the early-20th Century. This unique approach develops musicianship by combining music with rhythmic movement and active listening. In this course students will be invited to trust their own musical intuition, knowledge, and understanding, while developing a high level of musicianship that will prepare them for colligate musical studies and the demands place on young competing musicians today - all through the spirit of play! This course is excellent for those students in college prep, All State Festivals of all Instruments and anyone who wants to attain a deeper understanding of music.

The Ingredients for Building a Great Musician:

Dalcroze has three branches of study:

  1. Eurhythmics trains the body in rhythm, dynamics, articulation, phrasing, and form.
  2. Solfege trains the ear, eye and voice in pitch, melody, and harmony.
  3. Improvisation brings all elements together according to the students' own invention-in movement, with voice, or while playing an instrument.
