Calling all aspiring bands, singers, and creative youth! Want to see what goes on behind the scenes of a successful show? Discover this first hand!
The Boulder Advanced Vocal Performance Academy empowers teenagers and young adults to learn the art of live stage performance and show production by guiding them through conceiving, developing and producing an original concert / show performed before a live audience.
The culminating show includes accompaniment by a live band, demonstrates stage choreography, set design and the delivery of excellent, authentic self-expression through vocal performance by each singer.
Emphasis on team building and a win-win attitude is central to B.A.V.P.A. Students are continuously encouraged to meet their own unique challenges and embody who they authentically are, both on and off the stage.
The course corresponds with the public school calendar. It follows the fall and / or spring semester calendar and includes training and direct experience in a variety of areas such as:
- Confidence Raising, Meeting the Edge, Growing Beyond Blocks
Collaborating as a Team - Lead Singing / Back Up Singing / Live Improvisation
Authentic Vocal Self-Expression on Stage - Mapping Out Moves on Stage
Right use of Props, Tools and Attire - Conceiving a Show Theme / Organizing Sheet Music, Tracks and Self-Accompanying
Designing a Successful Song Order for a Winning Show - Working with a Live Band /Scheduling Rehearsals
Technical Support, from Sound to Lights. - Show Venues / Type of Seating / Accessibility
Filling The Seats - Promotion, Marketing & Programs
Sizing Up Finances / Generating Financial Sponsors
...and several other important skills involved in singing, performing and producing!
Other Highlights of B.A.V.P.A.
Danae Shanti, Founder of B.A.V.P.A. teaches this course. Experts from the performance industry contribute to the enhanced learning of students by guest teaching a few classes throughout the course.
B.A.V.P.A. is currently offered through a variety of Music and Vocal Coaching Schools in Boulder County. It follows the school calendar and includes a graduation show in the spring. One semester courses, also offered, have a smaller graduation show and offer fewer topics
In Boulder County, New Vista High School gives learning unit credits for this course.
This course is carefully designed and instructed to support exponential growth and significantly increases confidence in all students.
B.A.V.P.A. Long Range Goals
Advanced Student Graduates will have the opportunity to assist in teaching the course to new students.
We are currently working on Learning Unit arrangements with more Boulder Valley Schools.
