We have been so excited to see so many of you back for private voice and instrumental lessons. Please know that we teach some great group classes as well. You can find them on the website, but for just a sampling, we are featuring three wonderful classes below.
Chorales for All Ages & Preschool Musical
Class Registration can be accessed by clicking on the class name!
Preschool Musical is a great class for your little ones (Ages 3-5) to explore theater through playacting, music, and movement. This year’s production is ‘Three of a Kind!’ A play about a missing bear and how a number of different characters go looking for clues to find baby bear. Sign your child up for an amazing first experience on stage here at Dana V. Music.
Flatiron Youth Chorale is THE Louisville children’s choir. It is an entertaining and educational experience aimed at children ages 5-14.
During rehearsals, choir will explore varying music styles, theory, vocal technique, languages, instrumental technique, and social and ensemble behavior. This semester will be special; the choir will be singing two brand new songs written by choir members during last semester’s “Raise your Voice!” Poetry Contest and composed by our assistant choir director, John Boggs.
The FYC performs several times a year and this semester will be performing at the Steinbaugh Pavilion for our Rhythm and Hues event in May!
The Flatiron Women’s Contemporary Chorale is an excellent opportunity for women to be part of a group of courageous and caring women who also love to sing. This choir will explore different styles of contemporary music from the decades in a stress-free environment.
There is no audition! Singers will learn to find their voice and blend with other singers and learn to create a great sound within. Concerts will be presented only if the group feels ready, but we usually plan to present twice per semester in fun communities. The choir is led by our talented choir directors, Nichol Elgin and John Boggs.

Teacher and Instrument of the Month
Keirsten Schwanbeck (Cello)
Meet Keirsten Schwanbeck, Dana V. Music’s resident cello instructor. Keirsten has been instructing cello for over 10 years and has been studying the instrument since she was eight years old. Keirsten is not only a great cellist, she is also an accomplished student. She attended Hope College in Holland, MI on full scholarship, graduating Magna cum laude in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance.
Keirsten went on to study at the Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a Master of Music degree in Cello Performance in 2008. One of Keirsten’s favorite activities is to transcribe modern or classic rock and pop songs and put her own spin on them. Her favorites are Michael Jackson, Radiohead, and Coldplay. If you, or anyone you know is dying to learn the cello, please contact us and we will be happy to sign you up!
As many of you know, we offer quite a few summer camps for all ages, however, Dana V. Music really wants to be sure that we offer and teach the camps you might need.
We have created a very brief survey that we would love for you to fill out for us! This is totally anonymous, so please feel free to give us a much detail as possible. This is to help us educate and offer the proper summer programs for all! Thank you so much!
